Richland County - Storm Water Survey

  1. I live in a watershed.


  2. Richland County has a stormwater permitting program.


  3. Sediment is the largest pollutant by volume in stormwater runoff.


  4. Stormwater runoff is a problem.


  5. Used motor oil, grease, gasoline, and solvents can be safely disposed into a storm sewer, ditch, or trash can.


  6. It is safe to discharge garage floor drains into a ditch or stream.


  7. All sediment can be contained on a construction site by the use of silt fence.


  8. Concrete trucks can be washed out in any location.


  9. My septic system should be inspected every 3 years and pumped and cleaned every 3-5 years.


  10. A household septic system can be safely discharged anywhere.


  11. All fertilizers and chemicals applied to lawns stay within the boundaries of the yard.


  12. Pet waste should be picked up only as a courtesy to others.


  13. Grass is an excellent means of filtering pollutants and controlling erosion.


  14. Roof drain discharge does not contribute to flooding problems.


  15. I have seen, read, or heard about things I can do to reduce stormwater pollution.
